Wanderlust 2020 – Relationship with Myself

This is my latest project (as of 2/11) in my Wanderlust 2020 journey this year. I learned a new way to draw a profile portrait, and I am kind of addicted. I cannot stop looking at people’s profiles and imagining how I will draw it.

Allegory of My Artistic Year

This is an allegory of how I imagine my artistic year to be. Take note of the statue of liberty on the left. It’s there to represent, among other things, how I want to find my artistic voice and to use it to uplift others, to be a warm and welcoming light, to speak out against social injustices. The look on my face is focused and determined. My gaze is steady and undeterred.

The abstract art and the frame are about learning new techniques and studying art and objects so that I can learn and grow in my art, find my style and voice, and my six-year-old self is here to experience the pure joy of creating art, playing, and having fun.

My crown (also spiked like Lady Liberty’s) consists of my brush and pencil, always at the ready, tucked in my hair, behind my ear. The bee is a symbol of my name, and means the worker. I am determined to make this a year of productive learning, exploration and creativity for the pure joy of it.
